Typically, although the salary might be lower than a comparable position in the private sector, the benefits are usually excellent. There won't be bonuses, but there probably will be good vacation time. My company makes up for the pay scale by contributing to the 403b account (like a 401K but better tax benefits for nonprofit workers) and having a lot of time off, in addition to health, dental, life, etc. Also, I have found, in general, your coworkers at a non-profit tend to be friendlier and the atmosphere more relaxed than in corporate America.

Medical would be included. Probably not dental. The best non-profit for benefits is working for a medical facility. You will get some life insurance..

I work for a non profit organisation in Australia. The atmostphere is a friendly and relaxed environment, with the added benefit that you are working towards making a better world by helping others. We have whats called Salary Sacrifice here which is a way of increasing your take home pay. The pay isn't that great, but i feel its a less stressful and more supportive environment and it feels good to do good in this world, not having to compromise your integrity in the workplace is important to me.

Some nonprofits offer excellent benefits. Some offer none. It depends on how much money they have. You have to ask them.
