what do i need to become a fedex truck driver?

i really want to become a fedex truck driver. i was wondering if i needed a cdl or a special kind of license. its kind of my dream job since i like being alone most of the time so any info would help : ) also is it hard to get a job as a truck driver.

my dad is a fedex truckdriver and yes you need a CDL. But honestly there are somedays that they dont even get to drive anywhere. FedEx is hurting right now on getting people out there to make even a steady income. Just last week my dad worked only 3 out of 5 days. Some weeks are even worse than others. I would recommend that you work for a different company other than FedEx. Their future looks very grim and that 2009 is going to just get worse. There are plenty of other trucking companies out there that even pay for your schooling on getting your CDL like Conway. Schnieder is another trucking company that ive heard is really good. Stay away from Knight trucking Co. they screwed my dad over on paying him and are in a lawsuit. I hope this helped! If you are looking for making this a career i would NOT go with FedEx.

a cdl. which covers any sort of commercial delivery gig. however there are different annotations for specific things that you can handle or not, such as stick shifts, automatics, dual axles, hazardous stuff, weight, trailers, multiple trailers, etc.
typically mail delivery gigs are a lot of work because you are loaded for a 12 hour workday, which you must unload in 8 or 9 hours, and get paid for 8 or 9 hours instead of piece work or workload.
apply to fedex, ups, dhl, others. you may want to go there to the specific company and ask for a cheat sheet detailing what you absolutely need at the time of hire. some companies prefer to train you after hire, as well as help you obtain their specific strain of cdl. others want the works before you even apply
